Once just youngers in the grime scene, RASCALS (formerly know as Lil’ Rascals) have come a long way down the music road. The group, made up of MCs Shizz, Tempz, Merkz and singer, Kay Willz, are now signed to EMI and are on a new leg of their adventure.
Cashus Flow is no stranger to writing and recording tracks- but today (Aug. 28th) marks the official release of the Northern Virginia native's first, fully mixed and mastered album "Lamplighter's Delight". The project's features include guest verses by Mike Zoot, John Robinson (Lil Sci), and El Da Sensei- and an impressive list of talented producers (J Rawls, Panik, and DJ Spinna- to name a few).

Coolzey Is Back w/ "Coolzey & The Search for Hip-Hop Hearts"

After releasing his genre-defying yet hip-hop rooted full-length debut album The Honey in January of 2010, emcee-producer Coolzey presents two of his latest eclectic and left-field projects: First, Coolzey and the Search for the Hip Hop Hearts, a collaboration of Coolzey on vocals with 12 different notable indie hip-hop producers such as Crown City Rockers, Copywrite, J.Rawls, and Giant Panda. All recorded over a period of 12 weeks in 2010, each track was conceived, written, recorded, (with their own accompanying music video) in one week. The project was revived with a Kickstarter campaign which raised $3000 to put the video out on a designer CD/DVD combo pack with top-notch art by amazing Bay Area graphic designer Jennifer Cummins-Hennesy.
The second of the side projects, Live from the Cave @ Dougman, is entirely different but equally inspired. On Live...Coolzey spills his soul onto a dilapidated cassette 4-track in a windowless room in Echo Park in the form of lo-fi rock/blues/punk, then takes it into local Bedrock studios to be groomed and tickled with keys and saxophone by engineer Eugene Toale (known for studio work with Kanye West, Raekwon the Chef, and Black Apples among others).
Coolzey is an artist who marches to the beat of his own drum. Impossible to categorize, he's been releasing music on his own label Public School Records, and has managed to amass an underground following worldwide, charting in the top ten for months on many college radio stations in the US. Since his debut release, The Honey he's been traveling back and forth between his Midwest project, a gut rehabilitation house in southeastern Iowa, and a life in LA writing screenplays and acting, national tours with Raashan Ahmad, Akil of Jurassic 5, Sadat X of Brand Nubian, and Joe Jack Talcum of Dead Milkmen, and releasing the debut Grism album, a rock and roll collaboration with members of pop-punk up-and-comers Lipstick Homicide of which he is the front-man.
His second full-length is slated for a January 2013 release. In the meantime, check out the latest Hip-Hop Hearts and Live from the Cave from a musician who's imagination knows no bounds.
