Uptown XO (of Diamond District) is preparing to drop his latest mixtape The Color Grey October 1st. In anticipation Secret Society & MMG have the new video for the standout track “Good Vibes”. The song sounds exactly like the title: AB The Pro builds the beat around a soothing vibe chord change that XO compliments with unorthodox flow. Mirroring the musical mood, the video's director Blackie T takes us to a late summer barbecue in full effect: savory chicken and hot dogs grillin’, homies chllin’ and playing cards.
Early is an artist based out of Los Angeles, but originally from the DMV (DC, Maryland, VA). He believes it doesn't matter where you’re from because people all around the world undergo the same obstacles. "A universal language" is how he describes his music. In July of 2011, Early released his project ‘The Sunrise’ the first installment to his “I Wake Up” campaign. The project featured the critically acclaimed single, “Amnesia." Here's our new "Timeless" video!

A few weeks ago I announced on my that I would be releasing a free songs for the fans. After a small delay, here is the song:
Since Flowers for My Father is nearly complete, I wanted to make something for the fans as a sign of gratitude for being so patient. This isn’t a song that was cut from a project or anything like that, it was made for the sole purpose of giving it away. I contacted my friend Andreikelos (Equinox Records) and he produced the song for me and my new friend Shawn Coss was kind enough to create this original piece of art to accompany it.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, Virginia Woolf was a very famous writer from the early 1900s who ended up committing suicide by putting rocks in her dress and walking into the ocean. I always thought this was morbidly poetic and I even found myself really inspired after reading the letter she left behind for her husband, so I decided to write a song about it. I really hope you guys like it. Feel free to download it for free and share with your friends. While you're at it, feel free to download the other 7 songs I just put up for free as well. Thanks.
Just a quick reminder that if you are interested in pre-ordering the Best of Sudden Death 2 CD compilation and getting the bonus Volume 3 digital download you have two weeks left to place your order.
My Kickstarter campaign ends at 4:00 PM EDT on Friday, September 21st. To get the digital Volume 3 you just need to pledge at least $15 for the digital copy of the compilation. Kickstarter is the only way I’m accepting pre-orders and the only way you can get Volume 3 of the compilation, not to mention the t-shirt, USB key, Sudden Death digital discography, or the original painting of the album cover, and more.
On a related note, I am just $95 short of my stretch goal of $3000 which would allow me to turn the area under my basement stairs into a sound booth. Who wants to be the one to push me over the edge?
A few weeks ago, Cris Cab, Big Sean, Wyclef, and director Alex Moors went to Sun Valley California on a record breaking 110 degree scorching day to shoot a video for Good Girls. Check out a first glimpse of the video and how it was made here:
Birmingham rapper and producer Sir Tomz is no new comer to the game of music or Hip-Hop. Starting out in the movement known as Shadowless who where signed to Big Dada Records, the same label that have released music from Roots Manuva, Wiley, Ty and many more. Featuring on Tim Westwood's 2002 UK Hip-Hop compilation, as well as remixing a Roots Manuva track for the well known 'Extra Yard' compilation. Last year he released his label compilation Jailhouse Records Presents 'Lockdown' which was gained superb on-line reviews as well as support from numerous mixtape deejays in the UK and overseas, leading to Sir Tomz hosting a mixtape for US mixtape DJ 5X which was released in-conjunction with Coast2Coast Mixtapes.
New Orleans rapper Dee-1 broke onto the scene just under two years ago with the scathing yet insightful "Jay, 50, And Weezy." The video on YouTube now has over 500,000 views, and since then, Dee-1 has released a collection of mixtapes, seen his videos featured on MTV Jams, and has toured across the U.S. on three nationwide tours. Starting in October, and continuing throughout the rest of 2012, Dee-1 will join Macklemore on the road for a 50-date national tour, and before then, on October 9th, Dee will release his new mixtape, #TheFocusTape, which will be hosted by hometown hero and hip-hop legend Mannie Fresh.
Earlier this month, Dee-1 released the first single from #TheFocusTape, "Shut Up And Grind," and today, he's releasing a new track, "The Very Best," which features mixtape host Mannie Fresh, along with some guest vocal assistance from Mos Def. The track, produced by The MVP's, and, according to Dee, was written on the spot in a recent studio session Mannie Fresh and Mos Def. "That alone," says Dee, referencing the shared studio session with two hip-hop legends, "gave me the adrenaline rush that inspired everything listeners hear in the song."
Originally, says Dee, the track was supposed to be a posse cut, with Fresh and Mos both taking a verse, but as Dee spit back his verse, the two vets knew the song deserved to largely be a solo track. "They told me to just finish it off," recalls Dee, who used the push of inspiration to open his second verse by rapping, "I'm in some kinda zone/ I ain't trying to leave." Most of all, for Dee, the track serves as a statement for where he is in his music career right now. "I'm having fun, making meaningful music with real people in my circle," says Dee-1. "Life is too short to do anything less."
