Toronto, ON -- Fresh off an opening gig for Snoop Dogg in London, Shaun Boothe's highly-anticipated upcoming mixtape Waiting Room is out later this month on Honest Music/EMI.
Poised to be next on the list of Toronto Canada's hottest new musical exports, Shaun Boothe separated himself from the pack with his critically acclaimed Unauthorized Biography Series.
Inspired by Nas’ tribute to Rakim, Boothe’s Bio Series videos summarize the lives and legacies of a wide variety of cultural icons in rhyme form. Getting blog love from Kanye West and tweets from Diddy himself - Boothe’s sixth icon to get the biography treatment for his ‘Huster’s Edition’- it’s clear that he’s getting the attention of the right people.
With a handful of singles floating around the net, the time has finally come for the release of Shaun’s first full body of work. Waiting Room is a compilation of previously released, unreleased and brand new material.
Boasting production from his go-to producer and cousin Nineteen85, along with a few self produced tracks, Boothe proves on every song to be an honest, thought-provoking wordsmith - Soulfood in a fast-food driven market.
“Oh, your shoes match your shirt – that’s fire/My actions match my words – that’s flyer”
The overall sound is big, musical, sample-driven and often pulls heavily on the raw and genuine emotions of a young kid climbing his way up and looking toward the stars.

Kae Sun's Free EP "Outside The Barcode" Now Available
For Immediate Release July 2011
Toronto, ON -- Toronto-based singer songwriter Kae Sun turned to his native Ghana for inspiration for his new EP, Outside the Barcode. The return to his homeland after nine years of living in Canada renewed his drive for creating the raw and non-commoditized artistic experiences that shaped his passion for music.
Outside the Barcode is an authentic and reflective collection of songs that showcase Kae’s growth as a songwriter, storyteller and guitarist. Recorded on 2-inch tape on a farm in Ontario the raw acoustic songs recall the sense of community and authenticity that inspired the tracks. Kae’s focus was to create a more shared listening experience rather than dictating his audience’s experiences.
“It’s not about making music to get something out of people, but rather sharing experiences, capturing moments and communicating through music and lyrics,” he says. The result is an EP that conjures the collaborative spirit and culture of sharing that Kae experienced in Ghana.
This new effort by the singer-songwriter builds on the success of his previous releases. Lion on a Leash (2009), the well-received follow up to his EP Ghost Town (2007) landed on the iTunes 2009 Rewind List and earned esteemed reviews from Exclaim!, The Montreal Gazette, OkayPlayer.com and topped many critic’s lists for top indie release of the year. The success of Kae’s work has led him to play venues and festivals across Canada, UK, Dubai and Ghana.
Album: Chalie Boy - Versatyle Child 3 Hosted By DJ Rapid Ric
Rapid Ric Hosts Third Installment In Mixtape Series
The three-year wait is over now that Texas-natives Rapid Ric and Chalie Boy are back with the third installment in their Versatyle Child mixtape series, courtesy of Dirty 3rd Records. Known for touring the world with Slim Thug and Chamillionaire, and now with his own record label, Dew Music Group, it’s easy to forget that mixtapes are Ric’s specialty. Here he stays true to his roots and resumes his comfortable role as host once again out to live up to his moniker, “The Mixtape Mechanic” by continuously showing he is still a force to be reckoned with in the mixtape game.
After the positive feedback and buzz they received with the first two installments, it seemed only natural for Ric and Chalie to get back in the studio together to try to duplicate some of the creativity that has made them successful in the past. Featuring an impressive cast that includes Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, Mac Miller, and scores of original beats from Beat King, J Starz, and more, Versatyle Child 3 is set to be a strong follow-up to parts one and two. Ric and Chalie have been spending a lot of time together in the studio, so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for more, possibly bigger projects in the future.
A DJ at the age of 15, Rapid Ric moved to Austin Texas from a small boarder town where he soon coined "the mix tape mechanic" and has been DJing ever since. In the area he became the go-to guy if you wanted to get your stuff heard in the hood, as well as internationally. He formed partnerships with artists from across the state – most notably with Chamillionaire (Ric is his official DJ), Z-Ro, Trae tha Truth, Killa Kyleon, Bun B, Chalie Boy, Paul Wall and more – and released mixtapes with each and every one of them that not only showcased the growing berth of Texas music, but also his strong DJ skills. Rapid Ric's persistence quickly got him noticed, and then he did what many Texas acts don't, he hit the road. Rapid Ric traveled the world with Chamillionaire's tour, had a stint as Slim Thug's tour DJ, and performed on MTV's TRL. Now in 2011 Rapid Ric is taking it above ground with his official debut full-length release – Whut It Dew.
