Kottonmouth Kings Hit the Road with ICP, Coolio & More

New Album “Long Live The Kings” In Stores April 20th
The Kottonmouth Kings have announced they will co-headline the “Happy Daze” tour alongside Insane Clown Posse, with support from Coolio, Necro and Kittie. The tour will run for four weeks from May through June, hitting amphitheaters across the country beginning May 10th, 2010 in Dallas, TX.
“Anytime ICP and Kottonmouth Kings team up it sends shockwaves through the underground,” commented Daddy X. “Both groups are heavyweight superpowers who have created their own path in the music business and did things their way, sort of like they did in the early days of punk rock. Both ICP and Kottonmouth Kings have persevered through so much negativity from the mainstream media, but are still here more than a decade later and stronger than ever. At the end of the day, the millions of fans who love and support true underground and independent music are going have the time of their lives when they come see this tour and I am beyond excited to get the show on the road!”
Kottonmouth Kings are gearing up for the April 20th release of their new studio album, “Long Live The Kings”, through Suburban Noize Records. The album is currently available for pre-order with a bonus CD and exclusive DVD online at .

TILE!  I WANT TILE!  OKAY!  The new sketch comedy album by Cirque du So What (that's me, The Great Luke Ski, Shoebox of Worm Quartet, and Chris Mezzolesta) is now available.  Several tracks have already aired on Dr. Demento and that Tile bit has taken on a life of its own.  (Shirts will come, I'm sure.)  You can order Procrastinators Of The Apocalypse at or  We'll also be performing at PenguiCon and KeyCon in the coming weeks.  HONEY MUSTARD!

At MarsCon The Nick Atoms did their farewell show, which was done as a 70's variety show.  I played Danny Bonaduce whose job was to introduce this rockin' 70's crowd to rap music.  You can see the results here:

Music Video Debut - Greenhouse "Cold Out Here"

From Blueprint:

Hello Friends. This is Al Shepard (Blueprint). I’m writing because my crew Greenhouse that I’m in with fellow emcee Illogic have finished our music video for the song “Cold out here” from the Electric Purgatory Ep we released in November. We explored the possibility of trying to hire a firm to do publicity but quickly realized that it is outside of our budget, so we have decided to reach out to all of you who have strong contacts with the people, and see if any of you had any interest of either posting, playing, or hosting a debut for the video. We have not set an official release date fr the video yet as we would like to reach out to you all first and go from there.

Here’s a link to the trailer for the video that we posted a little while back:

Also, for those of you that may not have got to check out the EP yet, here are the links:

Also, we are on tour right now w/ Killah Priest.  Here is a link to the tour schedule:

Thanks for your time and consideration

Audio: yU - "On Ya Head"

From Michelle at Audible Treats

(March 24, 2010 - Brooklyn, NY) yU, a member of the celebrated hip-hop group Diamond District, is proud to announce the release of his solo album Before Taxes. The album showcases the incomparable skill and talent displayed on his group effort, while pushing this dynamic artist into new territory. Before Taxes will be released April 13th, 2010 via Mello Music Group.

Before Taxes is yU's answer to hip-hop fans' cry for a return to real hip-hop. The artist describes hip-hop's golden era of boom-bap greatness as being akin to one's personal finances... before taxes, that is. With watered-down commercial rap eating away at the cultural wallets of hip-hop fans worldwide, with his new album the DMV MC looks to take great strides at filling his listeners' pockets with a rich cultural currency.

The album is an exciting step forward for yU. After helping put the Washington DC/Maryland hip-hop scene back on the map with the seminal Diamond District album In The Ruff, the celebrated emcee has a lot to live up to. "Before Taxes is different than In The Ruff in a lot of ways," says yU. "I've been told that the sound is more mellow or experimental at times. There's different subject matter and approach to the rhymes." While perfectly capable of flooring listeners without his Diamond District crew, yU brings a few other friends along to help turn up the heat. Underground hero Grap Luva appears on "Brainwash," a cautionary tale of the ills that befall urban life, while appearances by Bilal Salaam, EyeQ, ERK, Omun, Op Swamp 81, Finale and yU's partner in rhyme from The 1978ers, SlimKat round out the remainder of the album.

In the spirit of evolving as a multi-faceted talent, yU took on the lion's share of the work behind the boards for Before Taxes, including producing the only completely instrumental track on the album. "I produced half of [the album], recorded and mixed all but one, and, along with Slimkat, was in total control of the direction of the project," explains yU. Bilal Salaam, Isabella Banneker and Kev Brown were also on hand to provide beats for Before Taxes, while Diamond District member Oddisee's lush production provided the soundscape for "Native," a track that seamlessly fuses heartfelt classic soul with yU's thoughtful delivery and Native American-influenced rhymes. Before Taxes will serve as one of two releases for yU in 2010, with a follow up solo full-length, TheEARN, scheduled for a fall release.

Check out the first leak from Before Taxes, the bonus track, "On Ya Head":

The Background:

Stemming off the success of Diamond District's In The Ruff, emcee yU has branched out with his solo album, Before Taxes. Embodying the musical influences surrounding him, yU brings listeners tastes of the district, Maryland, and Virginia with his own classic brand of hip-hop. Showcasing his depth of talent and skill, yU expands on Diamond District's love of boom-bap and the golden era with this forthcoming release. Before Taxes will be released April 13th, 2010 via Mello Music Group.
