Artist: Red Cafe f/ Diddy, Fabolous, Jadakiss, OJ Da Juiceman, Rick Ross Title: Hottest in the Hood Remix Label: Bad Boy/Atlantic Records
Overkill. That's my first reaction to Red Cafe trying to make "Hottest in the Hood" even hotter by throwing everybody from Fabolous to Rick Ross on it. My second reaction is SHIT, why the hell not? It's not like the original version hasn't been buzzing for a few months already, and if anybody knows how to extend the lifespan of a song via remix it's Diddy. That makes it all the more appropriate that Sean Combs is the first and the last voice heard on the song, but that's about the extent of his contributions. Besides I'm sure it doesn't hurt Notorious DVD sales to have that film's Primo be heard and seen mo'. That's right, Red Cafe played the freestyle rapper in that biopic, which is true to life in a way considering Cafe has yet to release an album in his 15 year career. The stripped down club sound of this song is a surefire summer hit but quite frankly I'm done waiting for Red Cafe to drop a full-length - no more dicking around with cameos, remixes and ghostwriting other people's hits - drop your own shit.
Artist: Don P f/ Big Mel, Ricky Fontaine Title: Drink in Yo Hand Label: SMC Records
If you're a fan of Trillville you probably recognize the name Don P. If you're not this single probably won't be the one to convert you. The first problem is that two-thirds of the song don't even feature Don P. The second problem is that Big Mel does the opening verse, and if there's a "star" of this song it's probably him. P's raps get as deep as "Stay on the grass all day like I'm a lawn" and that's about it. Trust me, as bad as that line is, the rest of his bars are worse. The third problem is that this beat is about as generic as they come in the Dirty South. Even the most cliched Lil Jon song would be an improvement. Even as a free radio edited download that only cost me the time and electricity to preview, I can't recommend this one.
Artist: DJ Drama f/ Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Willie the Kid Title: My People Will Be Heard Label: Atlantic Records
"There's a war goin' on outside and my people gotta paint they faces on."
The "Gangsta Grillz" series by DJ Drama has been around for a minute, but as far as major labels are considered there's only volume one and volume two, the latter being due out May 19th. "My People Will Be Heard" was leaked to the internet to create a buzz for the CD, and while it may be a little late with only one weak to go, that doesn't stop the track from being hot. The beat is some anime/martial arts hypeness - slow paced, plucked instruments, foreboding and ominous like the showcase stealing rap Luda spits. Honestly after his opening verse, Willie the Kid and Busta Rhymes are an afterthought, though the original Dungeon Dragon of hip-hop does a respectable job closing the song. One minor criticism - considering both Busta and Luda complain specifically about high gas prices, the bars seemed to have been laid down as far back as last summer.

EMINEM TEAMS UP WITH STEWIE GRIFFIN TO HOST "ANIMATION DOMINATION" SUNDAY, MAY 17, ON FOX
Hip-Hop Star to Make Special Surprise Announcement
Grammy Award winner Eminem joins FAMILY GUY's Stewie Griffin to host ANIMATION DOMINATION Sunday, May 17 on FOX. The evening will feature interstitials voiced by and featuring an animated version of the hip-hop superstar.
Fans should tune in for an exclusive surprise MySpace Music announcement they won't want to miss and visit http://www.myspace.com/music that evening for additional details.
"It was a thrill to work with Stewie," said Eminem about the youngest member of the Griffin clan. "I'm a big fan of talking babies and their humor."
On working with Eminem, Stewie said "I was just about to meet him, but after I shook hands with his stylist, his assistant, his lawyer, his bodyguard, his other bodyguard, his photographer, his manager, his hanger-on, his flower girl, his driver, his videographer, his notary, his historian, his her-storian, his texter and his own greased-up deaf guy, I got the swine flu."
On the season finale of FAMILY GUY airing Sunday, May 17 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), Peter has his palm read by a psychic who reveals that he had a fascinating past life in the 17th century as Griffin Peterson, a dignified gentleman from the newly founded colony of Quahog who vied for the love of Lady Redbush. It was a time of great love and adventure where King Stewart reigned supreme, the smartest dog in the room was the court jester, army lieutenants were merely boys and even old England loved "How I Met Your Mother" (Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Radnor and Jason Segel guest-voice).
Eminem's fifth full-length album, "Relapse," is set to be released on May 19. The album's debut single, "Crack a Bottle," was released in February and set a first week record for digital sales at the time, while the first official single and video, "We Made You," debuted in April. To date, Eminem has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. His previous studio album, "Encore," reached No. 1 and dominated the charts in late 2004. The Grammy-nominated disc was certified quadruple-platinum, generated four Top 40 Hot 100 hits and has sold more than 11 million copies. In October 2008, Eminem published "Eminem: The Way I Am," a compilation of thoughts, stories and memorabilia that entered The New York Times Best-Seller List at No. 11.
FAMILY GUY is a 20th Century Fox Television production. Seth MacFarlane is creator/executive producer, Mark Hentemann and Steve Callaghan are executive producers/show-runners and David A. Goodman, Chris Sheridan and Danny Smith are executive producers.
With a name inspired by the Nile in Egypt, Niles describes the similarities between him and the legendary river saying “the Nile flows upstream in an unorthodox way. I'm going upstream in life in an unorthodox way. The Nile has been a provider since its existence. I have been a provider since my existence. It is of African descent. I am of African descent.” The list goes on as Niles is not just an emcee, but a huge history buff, both of the ancient and personal variety. Although he now lives in NYC, Niles is originally from Michigan, a state that he’s quick to point out was also the birthplace of Magic Johnson and Malcom X. Niles recently released a single, “This Time,” on Koch Records / E1 Entertainment and after seeing a live performance of his a few weeks ago I was so impressed that I had to sit down with him to find out more about his story.
MySpace Music is proud to announce the exclusive premiere of the brand new album from Paul Wall titled "Fast Life" - available only on MySpace Music days before hitting store shelves. Users can now visit Paul's official MySpace Music profile and stream the new album in its entirety for free. Check it out at http://www.myspace.com/paulwall .
When "The People's Champ" was certified Platinum in 2005, Paul Wall became one of rap music's most revered hustlers. After popularizing and creating grills for hip-hop heavyweights like T.I., Lil Jon and Fat Joe, Paul became a cultural icon. "Fast Life" is not only a celebration of his many successes, but a moving testament of the endless hours he dedicated to becoming the chart-topping MC he is today. Featuring guests like Pitbull, Webbie, Yung Joc, and Tech N9ne, "Fast Life" is further proof that hard work pays off. Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker offers up three productions on "Fast Life" including 'Pop One Of These' featuring Too $hort, Skinhead Rob and The Federation. This album is a hearty dose of life as only Paul Wall knows it. For the people, by the people.
