Check out part two of our top twenty hip-hop videos from 1989, a year in which the success of Yo! MTV Raps quickly launched off two competing shows on BET and FOX. It was a year when rap music achieved unprecedented heights of dominance both culturally and commercially, even though the area where I grew up was sadly still behind the times.

If this is your first time rewinding to 1989 (a great many of you reading will have been born after 1990) you'll discover that hip-hop became what it is today because the success of these songs and videos led the way. It was more than "another summer" or "another year" - '89 was special.
