Is Shadow Blasters for Sega Genesis a good game or just a bad ripoff of Double Dragon II and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Welcome to another edition of Genesis Does! Today we look at an obscure game from Sigma Enterprises called Shadow Blasters which aspired to be a unique side scrolling beat ’em up and instead wound up being little more than a historical footnote.
You can choose from one of four protagonists on the fly at any time, but if they die they are GONE forever, so they end up being more like three extra lives. Despite the high difficulty curve and my lack of anything helpful like an instruction manual (or even a box) I still want to play more! New episodes of Genesis Does air every Thursday at 8 PM ET, 7 CT and if you subscribe to mmf187 you’ll never miss a new episode.
