Steve 'Flash' JuonIt’s confusing to try to look up information about NEC Avenue’s game “Download” because of the name alone, but it was worth it to suss out the details of this ambitious game. Download was conceived as a “media mix” that would comprise video games, movies and manga that were all tied into each other and carried an overarching storyline.
Unfortunately for everyone involved it never achieved their lofty ambitions, but what we’re left with from the attempt is a SHMUP with some impressive parallax scrolling, fun action, and surprisingly foul language! (I’ve edited it out of this episode, but I do pause for a moment to explain what happened.)
