Steve 'Flash' JuonJesse “The Body” Ventura Wrestling Superstars was a localization of Thunder Pro Wrestling Retsuden for Sega Mega Drive that was nearing release in March of 1992 when a build was sent to Sega of America for final approval. For unknown reasons the publisher DreamWorks (not to be confused with the film company) abandoned the project shortly thereafter.
Did they decide Jesse Ventura wasn’t a big enough name to ensure sales of the game? Were they low on cash and knew they couldn’t pay him the royalties if it WAS a hit? Did the original Japanese developers (Human) suddenly get cold feet about localization for the U.S.?
