I have very mixed emotions about whether or not to recommend Rabio Lepus Special. On the one hand it’s nice to know that a somewhat obscure arcade game actually got a conversion to home consoles on PC Engine. This is also one of those games where there’s no language barrier between Japan and the USA, so playing it on an emulator or an EverDrive is very easy.
On the other hand this game isn’t inexpensive if you want to own it physically ($30 minimum, $60 CIB), it tries to mimic other shoot ’em ups of the era without doing it very well, and unless you like rote stage memorization the cheap deaths will be very frustrating. It’s not bad, but it’s not great. It’s not the most expensive, but it’s not the least expensive either. Be sure to try before you buy.
