Steve 'Flash' JuonToshi Tenso Keikaku: Eternal City (or just Eternal City for short) is a game which has very little traction in the West — a token entry on The PC Engine Bible, and slightly more info on RomHacking’s website, but that’s where I also learned that a project to patch it into English has been abandoned since 2019. That’s a shame given it’s a run and gun game with some Metroid-esque upgrades, and it seems like with a little bit of effort to patch the dialogue when you receive said upgrades, it might go from “obscure Japanese game” to “cult classic” overnight.
Maybe this video can shed a little more light on a fun game that’s playable even without said English patch (which may ironically be the reason it’s never been finished).
