This week on The PC Engine Files, I’m taking a look at Moto Roader by special request from good friend and loyal viewer Steve Hoeker. He admits the game’s controls are “terrible” but there was “something I liked about it” despite that. Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news for my fellow Steve, but those terrible controls made me absolutely abhor this game and quit after my first game over. That’s a shame because a vast portion of the TG-16/PC Engine game library has good controls, some OUTSTANDING, but this is way down near the bottom of the list.
I’d call it unplayable except for the fact you can watch me playing it hear. The sound design is poor too — very little in the way of in-game effects — and the “group together” function is irritating and anathema to the spirit of racing. Unless you’re a hardcore collector or want a cheap TurboGrafx-16 game, PLEASE avoid this one. Subscribe to Mistah MegaManFan for new episodes each and every Tuesday at 8 PM ET!
