In this video I’m going to talk about modding a Japanese edition New Nintendo 2DS XL, which allows it to play games from any region as well as run custom homebrew. The methodology has changed since I last hacked a 3DS so you’re going to want to visit this guide if you’re doing this yourself (or if it has changed again).
The Pokemon Picross hack or “PicHaxx” as it was known seems to have been patched out by Nintendo themselves, but there’s still a “banner bomb” method for DSIWare that works just fine as of this video. The only thing that didn’t work after I installed GodMode9 and Luma was the Universal Updater, and I’m still not quite sure why. Perhaps it expects a US OS when I’m on a Japanese one. You can change the OS, but it’s risky and not recommended, and since homebrew makes it region free you don’t need to. As always thanks for watching!
