Passian Click hails out of the Seattle area and is serious about worshipping God. As with all Christian rap, the topic matter here is strictly restricted to religion. Even their website is strictly focused on the religious message in their music and gives us no insight on who the people behind the music are. Consisting of Lovely, Chozen, E-gal, and Swiss, the group sings and raps over up tempo beats in an attempt to spread their message. Their first self-titled E.P. definitely shows us the group has some musical talent, but not enough to raise their appeal past those who are as religious as they are.
"Y'all Ain't Ready" opens things up and is the typical "don't fuck with our click" track except the crew has God on their side in this case as Swiss makes clear:
"I be the light of the world, 'cause I got Christ in my body
So when I step on the scene no human being can stop me
I'm just talking bout me, I didn't even mention my posse
The Passion Click came to settle this, the most highest messengers
You talking 'bout flying? We them first class passengers
Strictly professional, damaging amateurs
If sports was our metaphor, then of course we gold medalists
The lord is before us so we a force to be reckoned with
The holiest of holy, all in up in our soulies
The builder of bridges, connecting Jesus to homies
Confused get clues, procrastinators move faster
Drunks sober up once they pop in the answer
We ain't the cure for cancer, but we can lead you to him
Some forget about the lord, it's like amnesia to them
I don't get high to rhyme, the holy spirit gon' write mine
Besides, I did enough drugs to last a lifetime
Delivered, I used to live weedy and wild
But you see Christ in my eyes 'cause I'm obedient now"
For what it is, it's actually not a bad track both lyrically and musically. This is followed up by the Christian version of a club banger in "Make Ya Stank." Of course, given the way people dance nowadays and the goings ons in most clubs, it's unlikely that the C.L.I.C.K. would want this played in real clubs. Likely made to induce some sort of Holy Ghost dance off during their performances the track is your typical club fare with uninspired lyrics – or can Christian lyrics even be uninspired? Either way, there is nothing new or different here. "Don't Trip" is another track that attempts to link the religious with the secular. The premise of the track is for people not to trip off the "candy 6-4" they be riding in and once again the music is appropriate for the track but the lyrics get downright silly during the break down when Swiss talks about riding "with that gooood license and gooood insurance" as if that's the reason minorities and cops have problems. "Fly Away" is actually a decent track with the premise of being fed up with one's problems/situation and wanting to get away from it all. Swiss stands out once again as the most gifted rapper of the crew and gives us some background on what he went through before he found Christ. E-Gal is the groups' second most talented member, through her rhymes about prison lack a little authenticity. "Perfect Will" ends the five track E.P. and is probably the least accessible track on the album. The crew goes on and on about the difficulty of following God's will but they never let us know exactly what it is that's testing their faith. The vagueness of the track makes it hard to comprehend even for the deeply religious. A remix for "Don't Trip" is thrown in at the end to round out the CD.
For what it is, "P.A.S.S.I.A.N. C.L.I.C.K." is actually decent music. They are not quite at the level of established Christian rap acts I've heard such as Flame and Cross Movement, but they're a little better than other acts such as most of the GrapeTree Records roster from the 1990s. Personally, I've never been a fan of purely Christian rap music, preferring to get my dose of Jesus in DMX's "Lord Give Me A Sign" and Scarface's "Seen a Man Die," among others. Yet, for those who really love Jesus, a lot, stuff like P.A.S.S.I.A.N. C.L.I.C.K. should do the job nicely.
