After seven years as a freelance writer for rap magazines
both of his own design (HardC.O.R.E., HEADzUP!) and those owned
and run by others (181-4.com,
HipHopSite, URB Magazine)
Steve 'Flash' Juon conceived of the idea for a site in December
of 1999 as both a one-stop resource for hip-hop reviews and news.
Starting with an archive of 150 reviews from the previous 18 months
that had appeared on OHHLA.com, no
less than 500 reviews were archived by the end of 2000
including a large catalogue of work and submissions
from fine writers such as B. Ridge and DJ Fatboy. The ultimate
goal of RapReviews is to be the internet's definitive one-
stop resource for any rap album, EVER. It's a
monumental goal but one which means the website will
be continually enhanced with new material.
