"The Year in Review" has become an annual tradition at RapReviews.com. Over the years we've tried many different ways to satisfy the public's appetite for a thorough analysis of who "the best of the best" were with mixed results. In 2000 and in 2001 Steve 'Flash' Juon solely compiled the list. In 2002 the list was created by polling the entire staff, weighing each album on a points scale until the most mentioned and rated highest came out on top. 2003 was another attempt to go back to having just one person compile the list. In 2004 a radical new approach was tried - individual editorials by contributors to the site wherein they chose their own "best of the best." This forumula proved the most successful and was repeated in 2005, and we're doing it again in 2006. Without further adieu, here are the editorials:
